Cosy Computing

09. Woodwork.

Today I was at my friend Richard's workshop. Richard describes himself as a hobbyist and DIY man, and the spirit in which he approaches making things is a strong reference point in this project. In his workshop on the weekend, listening to Beethoven, Jim Reeves, Songs From The Musicals and The Macarena, here are some parts of The Pinnochion getting built. Thank you, Richard, for sharing your skills and time. And thank you Janice for the corned beef sandwiches and coffee with condensed milk. Computering at its cosiest.

First thing was a surround for the screen, which is looking a bit out of place in shiny black plastic:

First, Richard drew round the screen to get the size, then cuts out the wood we need.

Next, the centre was cut out..

Richard had an idea to put some dials on the front like an old tv.

Next, he made some brass hooks to fix it to the monitor.
